Background: Appearance anxiety and depression have become common and global public health problems worldwide, especially among adolescents. However, few studies have revealed the mechanisms between them. This study aimed to explore the multiple mediating roles of interpersonal sensitivity and social support between appearance anxiety and depression among medical college students. Methods: With 13 invalid samples excluded, 724 college students participated in our survey and completed questionnaires. The average age of 724 samples was 19.8 ± 2.02 including freshman to senior year and graduate school and above; 31.9% of the participants were male and 68.1% were female. SPSS 25.0 and Hayes' PROCESS macro were used for statistical description, correlation analysis and built multiple mediation models. Results: Appearance anxiety can not only directly affect depression, but also indirectly affect depression through three significant mediating pathways: (1) IS (B = 0.106, 95% CI [0.082-0.132]), which accounted for 49.77% of the total effect, (2) SS (B = 0.018, 95% CI [0.008-0.031]), which accounted for 8.45% of the total effect, and (3) IS and SS (B = 0.008, 95% CI [0.003-0.014]), which accounted for 3.76% of the total effect. And the total mediating effect was 61.97%. Limitations: It is a cross-sectional research method and the causal relationship is unclear. Conclusions: This study found that lower interpersonal sensitivity and higher social support can effectively reduce depression caused by appearance anxiety among college students. The schools and relevant departments should take measures to reduce the interpersonal sensitivity of college students and establish reliable social support, so as to reduce the occurrence of depression.

BACKGROUND: Despite ongoing research, the underlying causes of schizophrenia remain unclear. Aspartate and asparagine, essential amino acids, have been linked to schizophrenia in recent studies, but their causal relationship is still unclear. This study used a bidirectional two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) method to explore the causal relationship between aspartate and asparagine with schizophrenia. METHODS: This study employed summary data from genome-wide association studies (GWAS) conducted on European populations to examine the correlation between aspartate and asparagine with schizophrenia. In order to investigate the causal effects of aspartate and asparagine on schizophrenia, this study conducted a two-sample bidirectional MR analysis using genetic factors as instrumental variables. RESULTS: No causal relationship was found between aspartate and schizophrenia, with an odds ratio (OR) of 1.221 (95%CI: 0.483-3.088, P-value = 0.674). Reverse MR analysis also indicated that no causal effects were found between schizophrenia and aspartate, with an OR of 0.999 (95%CI: 0.987-1.010, P-value = 0.841). There is a negative causal relationship between asparagine and schizophrenia, with an OR of 0.485 (95%CI: 0.262-0.900, P-value = 0.020). Reverse MR analysis indicates that there is no causal effect between schizophrenia and asparagine, with an OR of 1.005(95%CI: 0.999-1.011, P-value = 0.132). CONCLUSION: This study suggests that there may be a potential risk reduction for schizophrenia with increased levels of asparagine, while also indicating the absence of a causal link between elevated or diminished levels of asparagine in individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia. There is no potential causal relationship between aspartate and schizophrenia, whether prospective or reverse MR. However, it is important to note that these associations necessitate additional research for further validation.

The unique superconductivity and charge density wave transition characteristics of NbSe2 make it worthy of exploring its electrochemical performance and potential applications in the field of batteries. Herein, the bulk NbSe2 was successfully exfoliated into few-layered NbSe2 nanostructures by wet grinding exfoliation approach, which solved the issues of its long activation period and poor cycle stability. The strong Nb-Se bond in the plane and weak van der Waals force between the adjacent layers could render the fast Na+ diffusion, provide abundant reaction sites and multi-directional migration paths, thus accelerate the ionic conductivity. The theoretical calculations verified the high Na+ adsorption tendency between the NbSe2 interlayers stemming from the continuous region of charge accumulation. Thanks to the unique electronic and two-dimensional few-layered structures, the exfoliated NbSe2 exhibited a high cyclic stability with a capacity of 502 mA h g-1 over 2800 cycles at 10 A/g. In addition, the reaction mechanism was studied by in-situ X-ray diffraction and other tests, indicating a reaction mechanism containing of simultaneous intercalation (NbSe2↔NaxNbSe2↔NaNbSe2↔Na1+xNbSe2) and conversion processes in NbSe2. This parallelly running mechanism not only alleviates the volume change but also ensures a high specific capacity. Additionally, different lattice planes of the NaNbSe2 intermediate in the intercalation process experience varying degrees of contraction and expanding in d-spacing due to the influence of Coulombic force.

This study aims to investigate the regulatory effect of the Spatholobi Caulis extract from ethyl acetate(SEA) on natural killer(NK) cells under physiological conditions and elucidate the underlying mechanism. The C57BL/6 mice were randomized into NC and SEA groups, and NK-92 cells were respectively treated with 0, 25, 50, and 100 µg·mL~(-1) SEA. The body weight and immune organ index of the mice were compared between groups. The lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) assay was employed to examine the cytotoxicity of NK-92 cells treated with SEA and the killing activity of mouse NK cells against YAC-1 cells. The cell-counting kit-8(CCK-8) was used to examine the impact of SEA on the proliferation of NK-92 cells. Flow cytometry was employed to measure the number of NK cells in the peripheral blood as well as the expression levels of natural killer group 2 member A(NKG2A) and natural killer group 2 member D(NKG2D). The enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) was performed to determine the interferon(IFN)-γ secretion in the serum. Semi-quantitative PCR was conducted to determine the mRNA levels of NKG2A, NKG2D, and IFN-γ in spleen cells. Western blot was employed to investigate the involvement of phosphoinositide 3-kinase(PI3K)/extracellular regulated protein kinase 1(ERK1) signaling pathway. The results showed that SEA exhibited no adverse effects on the body, while significantly enhance the number of NK cells and augment the cytotoxicity of NK-92 cells against YAC-1 cells. Moreover, it suppressed the expression of NKG2A, enhanced the expression of NKG2D, promoted IFN-γ secretion, and upregulated the protein levels of PI3K and ERK. The findings suggest that SEA has the potential to enhance the immune recognition and effector function of NK cells by increasing the cell number, modulating the expression of functional receptors, and promoting IFN-γ secretion via the PI3K/ERK signaling pathway.

OBJECTIVE: By analysing the difference in TNF-α levels in the peripheral blood of patients with medial temporal lobe epilepsy (mTLE) with or without hippocampal sclerosis and the correlation between TNF-α and N-acetylaspartate levels in the hippocampus, we explored the relationship between TNF-α and the degree of damage to hippocampal sclerosis neurons in medial temporal lobe epilepsy. METHODS: This is a prospective, population-based study. A total of 71 Patients with medial temporal lobe epilepsy diagnosed by clinical seizures, video-EEG, epileptic sequence MRI, and other imaging examinations were recruited from October 2020 to July 2022 in the Department of Neurology, Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University. Twenty age-matched healthy subjects were selected as the control group. The patients were divided into two groups: the medial temporal epilepsy with hippocampal sclerosis group (positive group, mTLE-HS-P group) and the medial temporal epilepsy without hippocampal sclerosis group (negative group, mTLE-HS-N group). The levels of IL-1ß, IL-5, IL-6, IL-8, IL-17, IFN-γ and TNF-α in the peripheral blood of the patients in the three groups were detected by multimicrosphere flow immunofluorescence assay. The level of N-acetylaspartate (NAA) in the hippocampus was measured by 1H-MRS. The differences in cytokine levels among the three groups were analysed, and the correlation between cytokine and NAA levels was analysed. RESULTS: The level of TNF-α in the peripheral blood of the patients in the mTLE-HS-P group was significantly higher than that of the patients in the mTLE-HS-N and healthy control groups, and the level of TNF-α in the patients in the mTLE-HS-N group was significantly higher than that of the patients in the healthy control group. The NAA level in mTLE-HS-P group patients was significantly lower than that of mTLE-HS-N patients and healthy controls, but there was no significant difference between mTLE-HS-N patients and healthy controls (P > 0.05). Spearman correlation analysis showed that TNF-α level (rs = -0.437, P < 0.05) and the longest duration of a single seizure (rs = -0.398, P < 0.05) were negatively correlated with NAA level. Logistic regression analysis showed that there was no significant correlation between the longest duration of a single seizure and hippocampal sclerosis, but TNF-α level was closely related to hippocampal sclerosis in patients with mTLE (OR = 1.315, 95 % CI 1.084-1.595, P = 0.005). CONCLUSION: The level of TNF-α in the peripheral blood of patients with medial temporal lobe epilepsy with hippocampal sclerosis was higher, and it was correlated with NAA and hippocampal sclerosis. The high expression of TNF-α may be of important value in the evaluation of hippocampal sclerosis patients.

Deep transfer learning has been widely used to improve the versatility of models. In the problem of cross-domain fault diagnosis in rolling bearings, most models require that the given data have a similar distribution, which limits the diagnostic effect and generalization of the model. This paper proposes a deep reconstruction transfer convolutional neural network (DRTCNN), which satisfies the domain adaptability of the model under cross-domain conditions. Firstly, the model uses a deep reconstruction convolutional automatic encoder for feature extraction and data reconstruction. Through sharing parameters and unsupervised training, the structural information of target domain samples is effectively used to extract domain-invariant features. Secondly, a new subdomain alignment loss function is introduced to align the subdomain distribution of the source domain and the target domain, which can improve the classification accuracy by reducing the intra-class distance and increasing the inter-class distance. In addition, a label smoothing algorithm considering the credibility of the sample is introduced to train the model classifier to avoid the impact of wrong labels on the training process. Three datasets are used to verify the versatility of the model, and the results show that the model has a high accuracy and stability.

The aqueous instability of halide perovskite seriously hinders its direct application in water as a potential photocatalyst. Here, we prepared a new type of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) passivated δ-CsPbI3 (δ-CsPbI3@PVP) microcrystal by a facile method. This material can be uniformly dispersed in water and stably maintain its crystal structure for a long time, breaking through the bottleneck of halide perovskite photocatalysis in water. Under visible light, δ-CsPbI3@PVP can almost completely photodegrade organic dyes (including Rhodamine B, methylene blue, and crystal violet) in only 20 min. The efficient photocatalytic activity is attributed to the enhanced visible light absorption arising from PbI2 defects in δ-CsPbI3@PVP and the intrinsic low photoluminescence quantum yield of δ-CsPbI3, which induces efficient light absorption and photocatalytic activity. We highlight δ-CsPbI3@PVP as an effective aqueous photocatalyst, and this study provides new insights into how to exploit the potential of halide perovskite in photocatalytic applications.

Background: Polycythemia vera (PV) is a myeloproliferative neoplasm. Ropeginterferon alfa-2b is a new-generation polyethylene glycol-conjugated proline-interferon. It is approved for the treatment of PV at a starting dose of 100 µg (50 µg for patients receiving hydroxyurea (HU)) and dose titrations up to 500 µg by 50 µg increments. The study was aimed at assessing its efficacy and safety at a higher starting dose and simpler intra-patient dose escalation. Methods: Forty-nine patients with PV having HU intolerance from major hospitals in China were treated biweekly with an initial dose of 250 µg, followed by 350 µg and 500 µg thereafter if tolerated. Complete hematological response (CHR) was assessed every 12 weeks based on the European LeukemiaNet criteria. The primary endpoint was the CHR rate at week 24. The secondary endpoints included CHR rates at weeks 12, 36 and 52, changes of JAK2V617F allelic burden, time to first CHR, and safety assessments. Results: The CHR rates were 61.2%, 69.4% and 71.4% at weeks 24, 36, and 52, respectively. Mean allele burden of the driver mutation JAK2V617F declined from 58.5% at baseline to 30.1% at 52 weeks. Both CHR and JAK2V617F allele burden reduction showed consistent increases over the 52 weeks of the treatment. Twenty-nine patients (63.0%) achieved partial molecular response (PMR) and two achieved complete molecular response (CMR). The time to CHR was rapid and median time was 5.6 months according to central lab results. The CHRs were durable and median CHR duration time was not reached at week 52. Mean spleen index reduced from 55.6 cm2 at baseline to 50.2 cm2 at week 52. Adverse events (AEs) were mostly mild or moderate. Most common AEs were reversible alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase increases, which were not associated with significant elevations in bilirubin levels or jaundice. There were no grade 4 or 5 AEs. Grade 3 AEs were reversible and manageable. Only one AE led to discontinuation. No incidence of thromboembolic events was observed. Conclusion: The 250-350-500 µg dosing regimen was well tolerated and effectively induced CHR and MR and managed spleen size increase. Our findings demonstrate that ropeginterferon alfa-2b at this dosing regimen can provide an effective management of PV and support using this dosing regimen as a treatment option.

Photodriven chiral catalysis is the combination of photocatalysis and chiral catalysis and is considered one of the cleanest and most efficient methods for the synthesis of chiral compounds or drugs. Furthermore, due to the potential metal contamination associated with most metal-based catalysts, metal-free chiral photocatalysts are ideal candidates. In this work, we demonstrate that metal-free chiral carbon dots (CDs) exhibit size-dependent enantioselective photocatalytic activity. Using serine as the raw material, chiral CDs with well-defined structures and average sizes of 2.22, 3.01, 3.70, 4.77, and 7.21 nm were synthesized using the electrochemical method. These chiral CDs possess size-dependent band gaps and exhibit photoresponsive enantioselective catalytic activity toward the oxidation of dihydroxyphenylalanine (DOPA). Under light-assisted conditions, chiral CDs (L72, 500 µg/mL) exhibit high selectivity (selectivity factor: 2.07) and maintain a certain level of catalytic activity (1.34 µM/min) even at a low temperature of 5 °C. The high catalytic activity of the chiral CDs arises from their photoelectrons reducing O2 to generate O2-, as the active oxygen species for DOPA oxidation. The high enantioselectivity of the chiral CDs is attributed to their differential adsorption capabilities toward DOPA enantiomers. This study provides a new approach for designing metal-free chiral photocatalysts with high enantioselectivity.

PURPOSE: To investigate the effectiveness and safety of separation surgery for Epidural Spinal Cord Compression (ESCC) graded ≥ 2 in patients with Multiple Myeloma (MM), analyze factors influencing surgical outcomes, and develop a preliminary treatment decision framework for these patients. METHODS: A retrospective analysis was conducted on clinical data from 35 MM patients who underwent separation surgery for ESCC graded ≥ 2 between 2013 and 2018. Patient data, including baseline information, surgical details, complications, and pre-operative as well as one-month post-operative efficacy evaluation indicators were recorded. Statistical analysis was performed on pre-operative and post-operative efficacy indicators to determine if there were significant improvements (p < 0.05). Ordered logistic regression was utilized to assess factors associated with an unfavorable post-operative quality of life outcome. RESULTS: Compared to pre-operative values, at one-month post-surgery, patients showed significant improvements in Frankel Score Classification (4 vs 5, p < 0.05), Karnofsky Performance Score (30 vs 70, p < 0.05), and Visual Analogue Scale (8 vs 3, p < 0.05). Complications occurred in 7 cases (20%). The number of segments with ESCC (OR = 0.171, p < 0.05) and pre-operative chemotherapy (OR = 5.202, p = 0.05) were identified as independent factors influencing patient outcomes. Patients with more than two vertebral segments with ESCC exhibited significantly worse post-operative conditions. CONCLUSIONS: Separation surgery effectively alleviates pain, improves neurological function, and enhances the quality of life in patients with ESCC graded ≥ 2 due to MM.

As amorphous materials get jammed, both geometric and dynamic heterogeneity are observed. We investigate the correlation between the local geometric heterogeneity and local rearrangements in a slowly compressed bidisperse quasi-two-dimensional emulsion system. The compression is driven by evaporation of the continuous phase and causes the area packing fraction to increase from 0.88 to 0.99. We quantify the structural heterogeneity of the system using the radical Voronoi tessellation following the method of Rieser et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 116, 088001 (2016)]0031-900710.1103/PhysRevLett.116.088001. We define two structural quantities characterizing local structure, the first of which considers nearest neighbors and the second of which includes information from second-nearest neighbors. We find that droplets in heterogeneous local regions are more likely to have local rearrangements. These rearrangements are generally T1 events where two droplets converge toward a void, and two droplets move away from the void to make room for the converging droplets. Thus, the presence of the voids tends to orient the T1 events. The presence of a correlation between the structural quantities and the rearrangement dynamics remains qualitatively unchanged over the entire range of packing fractions observed.

BACKGROUND: As a primary form of work-related violence in the healthcare sector, patient mistreatment negatively impacts nurses' well-being. To date, there has yet reached a definitive conclusion on the mediating mechanism and boundary conditions behind the influence of patient mistreatment on nurses' emotional exhaustion. METHODS: This study employed a convenience sampling method to recruit a sample of 1672 nurses from public hospitals in Western China. The data were collected through anonymous self-report questionnaires and analyzed using hierarchical regression and conditional processes to investigate a theoretical framework encompassing patient mistreatment, emotional exhaustion, social sharing of negative events, organizational support, and trait resilience. RESULTS: Patient mistreatment led to emotional exhaustion among nurses (ß = 0.625, p <.001), and social sharing of negative events mediated this positive relationship (effect = 0.073, SE = 0.013). The combined effects of organizational support and resilience moderated the mediating effect of the social sharing of negative events between patient mistreatment and emotional exhaustion (ß=-0.051, p <.05). Specifically, nurses with a high level of resilience would benefit from organizational support to alleviate emotional exhaustion caused by patient mistreatment. CONCLUSIONS: This study validated a significant positive association between patient mistreatment and emotional exhaustion, which aligns with previous research findings. Integrating conservation of resources theory and goal progress theory, we addressed previous contradictory findings on the impact of social sharing of negative events on emotional exhaustion. Social sharing of negative events served as a mediator between patient mistreatment and emotional exhaustion. Additionally, the moderating effect of organizational support on the relationship between social sharing of negative events and emotional exhaustion depended on individual trait of resilience.

BACKGROUND: Reconnection after mitral isthmus (MI) block with radiofrequency ablation is common. OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of ethanol infusion in the vein of Marshall (EIVOM) on acute reconnection after MI bidirectional block. METHODS: Patients with persistent atrial fibrillation who were scheduled to receive radiofrequency ablation for the first time were randomly assigned to the radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA) group (n = 44) or the EIVOM group (n = 45). The RFCA group's strategy was bilateral pulmonary vein ablation and linear ablation; in the EIVOM group, EIVOM was performed first. The primary endpoint was acute reconnection 30 minutes after MI bidirectional block. RESULTS: A total of 89 patients (average age 62.9 years; 57.3% male) were enrolled. The average duration for persistent atrial fibrillation was 2.3 years. Before observation, all patients in the EIVOM group achieved MI bidirectional block (45 of 45 [100%]), compared with 84.1% (37 of 44) in the RFCA group. After the observation, 3 cases of MI reconnection occurred in the EIVOM group and 13 cases in the RFCA group (6.7% vs 35.1%; P < 0.05). After additional ablation, the final MI block rates in the EIVOM and RFCA groups were 97.8% (44 of 45) and 72.7% (32 of 44), respectively. During a 1-year follow-up, 8 of 45 patients who underwent EIVOM had recurrent atrial fibrillation, compared with 14 of 44 in the RFCA group (17.8% vs 31.8%; P < 0.01). CONCLUSIONS: EIVOM can reduce acute reconnection after MI bidirectional block and significantly increase first-pass MI block.

Perineural invasion (PNI) leads to the poor prognosis of head and neck squamous cancer (HNSCC) patients, but the mechanism of PNI remains unclear. Dickkopf-1 (DKK1), a secretory protein in the Wnt signaling pathway, was found indeed upregulated in HNSCC cells and tissues. Higher expression of DKK1 was statistically relevant to T stage, N stage, PNI, and poor prognosis of HNSCC. DKK1 overexpression enhanced the migration abilities of cancer cells. Moreover, DKK1-overexpressing cancer cells promoted cancer cells invasion of peripheral nerves in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, DKK1 could promote the PI3K-AKT signaling pathway. The migration abilities of neuroblastoma cells, which were enhanced by DKK1-overexpressing HNSCC cell lines, could be reversed by an inhibitor of Akt (MK2206). The association of DKK1 with PNI was also confirmed in HNSCC samples. Variables, including T stage, N stage, DKK1 expression, and PNI, were used to establish a nomogram to predict the survival probability and disease-free probability at 3 and 5 years. In summary, DKK1 can promote the PI3K-AKT signaling pathway in tumor cells and then could induce neuritogenesis and facilitate PNI. MK2206 may be a potential therapeutic target drug for HNSCC patients with PNI.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: To determine the prevalence of silent brain infarction (SBI) and cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) in adults with atrial fibrillation (AF), coronary artery disease, heart failure or cardiomyopathy, heart valve disease, and patent foramen ovale (PFO), with comparisons between those with and without recent stroke and an exploration of associations between heart disease and SBI/CSVD. METHODS: Medline, Embase, and Cochrane Library were systematically searched for hospital-based or community-based studies reporting SBI/CSVD in people with heart disease. Data were extracted from eligible studies. Outcomes were SBI (primary) and individual CSVD subtypes. Summary prevalence (95% confidence intervals [CIs]) were obtained using random-effects meta-analysis. Pooled prevalence ratios (PRs) (95% CI) were calculated to compare those with heart disease with available control participants without heart disease from studies. RESULTS: A total of 221 observational studies were included. In those with AF, the prevalence was 36% (31%-41%) for SBI (70 studies, N = 13,589), 25% (19%-31%) for lacune (26 studies, N = 7,172), 62% (49%-74%) for white matter hyperintensity/hypoattenuation (WMH) (34 studies, N = 7,229), and 27% (24%-30%) for microbleed (44 studies, N = 13,654). Stratification by studies where participants with recent stroke were recruited identified no differences in the prevalence of SBI across subgroups (phomogeneity = 0.495). Results were comparable across participants with different heart diseases except for those with PFO, in whom there was a lower prevalence of SBI [21% (13%-30%), 11 studies, N = 1,053] and CSVD. Meta-regressions after pooling those with any heart disease identified associations of increased (study level) age and hypertensives with more SBIs and WMH (pregression <0.05). There was no evidence of a difference in the prevalence of microbleed between those with and without heart disease (PR [95% CI] 1.1 [0.7-1.7]), but a difference was seen in the prevalence of SBI and WMH (PR [95% CI] 2.3 [1.6-3.1] and 1.7 [1.1-2.6], respectively). DISCUSSION: People with heart disease have a high prevalence of SBI (and CSVD), which is similar in those with vs without recent stroke. RESUMO

We introduce an innovative approach to address a significant challenge in interaction recognition, specifically the capture of correlation features between different interaction body parts. These features are often overlooked by traditional graph convolution networks commonly used in interaction recognition tasks. Our solution, the Merge-and-Split Graph Convolutional Network, takes a unique perspective, treating interaction recognition as a global problem. It leverages a Merge-and-Split Graph structure to effectively capture dependencies between interaction body parts. To extract the essential interaction features, we introduce the Merge-and-Split Graph Convolution module, which seamlessly combines the Merge-and-Split Graph with Graph Convolutional Networks. This fusion enables the extraction of rich semantic information between adjacent joint points. In addition, we introduce a Short-term Dependence module designed to extract joint and motion characteristics specific to each type of interaction. Furthermore, to extract correlation features between different hierarchical sets, we present the Hierarchical Guided Attention Module. This module plays a crucial role in highlighting the relevant hierarchical sets that contain essential interaction information. The effectiveness of our proposed model is demonstrated by achieving state-of-the-art performance on 2 widely recognized datasets, namely, the NTU60 and NTU120 interaction datasets. Our model's efficacy is rigorously validated through extensive experiments, and we have made the code available for the research community at https://github.com/wanghq05/MS-GCN/.

Primary nocturnal enuresis (PNE) is a common childhood disorder with abnormal sleep or arousal. The corpus callosum (CC) continues to develop into adulthood and plays an important role in sleep arousal. This study aimed to evaluate the microstructure of the CC in children with PNE. Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) indices were extracted throughout the CC and its seven subregions were compared between the children with PNE and healthy children (HC). The correlation between abnormal DTI indices of the CC and cognitive condition was also tested. Compared to HC, decreased fiber number (NF) (F = 8.492, PFDR = 0.032) and fractional anisotropy (FA) value (F = 8.442, PFDR = 0.040) were found in the posterior midbody of the CC, increased RD was found in the posterior midbody (F = 6.888, PFDR = 0.040) and isthmus (F = 7.967, PFDR = 0.040) in children with PNE. The reduction of FA value was more obvious in boys than girls with PNE. In children with PNE, there was a significant positive correlation between the NF of the posterior midbody and full IQ (r = 0.322, P = 0.025) and between the FA value and the general knowledge memory (r = 0.293, P = 0.043). This study provides imaging evidence for abnormalities in the microstructure of the CC in children with PNE, especially in male PNE, which might affect the children's cognitive performance.

BACKGROUND: There are limited data comprehensively comparing therapy responses and outcomes among nilotinib, dasatinib, flumatinib and imatinib for newly diagnosed chronic-phase chronic myeloid leukemia in a real-world setting. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Data from patients with chronic-phase CML receiving initial a second-generation tyrosine-kinase inhibitor (2G-TKI, nilotinib, dasatinib or flumatinib) or imatinib therapy from 77 Chinese centers were retrospectively interrogated. Propensity-score matching (PSM) analyses were performed to to compare therapy responses and outcomes among these 4 TKIs. RESULTS: 2,496 patients receiving initial nilotinib (n = 512), dasatinib (n = 134), flumatinib (n = 411) or imatinib (n = 1,439) therapy were retrospectively interrogated in this study. PSM analyses indicated that patients receiving initial nilotinib, dasatinib or flumatinib therapy had comparable cytogenetic and molecular responses (p = .28-.91) and survival outcomes including failure-free survival (FFS, p = .28-.43), progression-free survival (PFS, p = .19-.93) and overall survival (OS) (p values = .76-.78) but had significantly higher cumulative incidences of cytogenetic and molecular responses (all p values < .001) and higher probabilities of FFS (p < .001-.01) than those receiving imatinib therapy, despite comparable PFS (p = .18-.89) and OS (p = .23-.30). CONCLUSION: Nilotinib, dasatinib and flumatinib had comparable efficacy, and significantly higher therapy responses and higher FFS rates than imatinib in newly diagnosed CML patients. However, there were no significant differences in PFS and OS among these 4 TKIs. These real-world data may provide additional evidence for routine clinical assessments to identify more appropriate therapies.

Design the electrocatalysts without noble metal is still a challenge for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in acid media. Herein, we reported the manganese (Mn) doping method to decrease the concentration of oxygen vacancy (VO) and form the Mn-O structure adjacent octahedral sites in spinel NiCo2O4-δ (NiMn1.5Co3O4-δ), which highly enhanced the activity and stability of spinel NiCo2O4-δ with a low overpotential (η) of 280 mV at j=10 mA cm-2 and long-term stability of 80 h in acid media. The isotopic labelling experiment based on differential electrochemical mass spectrometry (DEMS) clearly demonstrated the lattice oxygen in NiMn1.5Co3O4-δ is more stable due to strong Mn-O bond and shows synergetic adsorbate evolution mechanism (SAEM) for acid OER. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal highly increased oxygen vacancy formation energy (EVO) of NiCo2O4-δ after Mn doping. More importantly, the highly hydrogen bonding between Mn-O and *OOH adsorbed on adjacent Co octahedral sites promote the formation of *OO from *OOH due to the greatly enhanced charge density of O in Mn substituted sites.

Z-scheme heterostructure-based photocatalysts consist of a reduction photocatalyst and an oxidation photocatalyst, enabling them to possess a high capacity for both reduction and oxidation. However, the coupling reaction between photocatalytic H2 generation through water reduction and sterilization using Z-scheme systems has been rarely reported. Herein, 1D W18O49 nanowires embedded over 2D g-C3N4 nanosheets are well-constructed as an integrated Z-scheme heterojunction. Experimental results and density functional theory calculations not only demonstrate the achievement of efficient interfacial charge separation and transport, leading to prolonged lifetime of photogenerated charge carriers, but also directly confirm the mechanism of Z-scheme charge transfer. As expected, the optimized W18O49/g-C3N4 nanostructure exhibits superior photocatalytic sterilization activity against Staphylococcus aureus as well as excellent H2 generation performance under visible-light irradiation (λ ≥ 420 nm). Due to its nontoxic nature, W18O49/g-C3N4 holds great potential in eradicating bacterial infections in living organisms.
